Arequipa has, as all the other Peruvian cities, awonderful central square. It is entirely made with white stone (the sillar), which is the same they used to build a major part of the town. That is what gives it the nickname of The White City. All around, there are arcades with balconies at the top with colonnades in carved wood housing very elegant coffee-bars. On the square, the palm trees are the natural habitat of numerous pigeons and, in the middle, a metallic fountain that is painted in green. In this relaxing and refreshing environment, the view on the Misti is astonishing.
